Nate Donovan Photography
Nate is a popular professional photographer and instructor based out of the San Francisco Bay Area. For the past 16 years Nate has conducted classes and workshops throughout the western United States including Yosemite, Yellowstone, and Grand Tetons National Parks. Nate also conducts regular classes in Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, and photography workflow. His past experience includes portrait, nature & landscape, and commercial photography. Nate has been a regular lecturer for UC Berkeley and speaker at many Bay Area photography events.
GITA GOPAL, Founder/CEO
Gita has a Ph.D. in Computer Science and worked for over 20 years managing research at Bellcore and HP Labs. In spite of all these years working with computers, she never really used them for fun, and was fascinated to observe her pre-teen daughter and some of her friends experiment with computers and cameras to create funny movies, wacky digital art, and beautiful greeting cards. She founded Fun With Media with the belief that given a little bit of instruction, all kids and not just the tech-savvy ones, can embrace digital media technologies and experience the fun of self-expression while learning critical skills.

About Us
Computers and technology have irrevocably changed the way people present their ideas and express themselves– Visual communication, new technologies, creativity and originality are critical skills for our kids in the 21st century. At Fun With Media, we teach kids how to create using new digital media, and grow from passive consumers of games and video to active participants of the Digital Age. We introduce them to a variety of hardware devices and software tools and techniques incorporating art, photography, animation and movie making. Kids learn practical skills for communication and self-expression, while creating a variety of media projects inspired by their own lives and passions.
And for those adults who would like to learn fun and practical digital media skills, we offer a supportive environment to master those skills your kids seem to pick up so effortlessly.

Our Studio
Our bright, new space is well-equipped for fun with high performance iMacs, Flip UltraHD video cameras, Canon cameras, touch-sensitive Wacom tablets, large format photo printer, photo lighting kits, green screen backdrop and other special effects props – enough that each student can participate fully in every class. For certain classes, kids may borrow cameras during specific weeks to film raw material for their projects.

About Us
KAORU HOLLIN, Co-Founder
Kaoru is an experienced visual designer who created iconic illustrations for sample art, templates and tutorials bundled with Adobe’s graphics applications, including Illustrator®, Photoshop® and InDesign®. Her work has been featured in leading design references, including The Illustrator Wow! Book, The Photoshop Wow! Book, Adobe Design Essentials and the Adobe Classroom in a Book series. Kaoru began her career as a Montessori kindergarten teacher in her native country of Japan, where she first experienced the joy of educating children through creative engagement.
AMY SHELLEY, Co-Founder
Amy is an elementary school teacher in the Los Altos School District. In her sixth year of teaching she has experience with diverse students at all grade levels. She completed her Masters Degree in Educational Technology in 2008 and has developed unique projects integrating 21st century technology skills into every area of the elementary classroom curriculum. In addition, Amy has worked closely with various educational software development teams to improve the technology tools for the classroom. She is excited to work on Fun with Media because she gets to do the two things she loves most: teaching and technology.

MADAN GOPAL, Co-Founder
Madan has held senior leadership positions at Cisco Systems for the past 16 years and built advanced networking products including routers, switches, security cameras and software applications. Computer technology is a passion for Madan and he is excited to be a part of the Fun With Media team in guiding the next generation towards getting the most from the Digital age. As the "CTO", Madan is responsible for evaluation, selection and implementation of computing, server, software and networking technologies needed to support the digital media classroom.
